Abstract
Within the scope of accessible tourism, museums are the most important non-profit institutions and organizations. These institutions and organizations include some practices for hearing-impaired individuals in Turkey and abroad, keeping the values of independence, equality and respect in the first place. The aim of the study is to examine in detail all the applications for hearing impaired individuals, which are applied in museums in Turkey and abroad, with descriptive analysis method and to eliminate the deficiencies. These studies support hearing-impaired individuals to take part in the activities they wish in museums, like all other individuals in the society. In the study, the definition of the disabled, the definition of the hearing impaired, the number of hearing impaired according to the world population and the disabled policies in museums are discussed. Projects implemented on behalf of hearing-impaired individuals in museums in Turkey and projects implemented by museums around the world on behalf of hearing-impaired individuals are presented.
